Last shower post I promise! All of them were just so cute I can't help but share.

I loved the paper chain garland. I brought some home to put up on our house :)

Everyone had a place setting on the family heirloom china and linens. It was so sweet.

Uncle Clay picked this out for Baby H on his recent trip to Jackson Hole, and plans on doing the same each summer when he travels (he chaperones a HS earth science trip out west each summer)

This was one of Mal's favorite stuffed animals when she was a little girl, and has passed it down to us!

His name is Chester the Cheeta :)

PS- Kellen did his first triathalon last weekend with Jason- I am so proud of him! It has always been a goal of his and he did it! I only got to see him start because of a baby shower, but I got to cheer him on as he entered the water (he is in the yellow cap)!

 

Today I got this in the mail for me to use as a birthing ball, and to use for stretching/positioning to alleviate back pain. I am sure Jillian Michaels would be thrilled to know that I am using her workout ball for this purpose. As I sat on it, I drooled over this picture on the box as I looked at my growing tummy hanging over the ball.... Take that skinny bitch!

Showers of Love

It's that time...for our baby showers! A few weekends ago we had 2. Friday night was a couples cookout/shower with my Purdue nursing girls, and Saturday was the McClay family/friend shower. I am still overwhelmed at the generosity, love, and happiness we are surrounded with.

Again, here are some highlights:

It was so nice to have everyone together again, it happens few and far between nowadays.

I really enjoyed having Kellen there with me.

It was such a joy to have him open gifts and be a part of this happy time.

Is anyone else as ready as I am for this little bundle of love to come?! 

I've been having some harder days, a little triage scare, and some BP issues, so this is just a reminder that I am getting closer and I need to take it easy. Easier said than done for me, but I'm trying.

Out of my comfort zone!

I have always been on the fence about maternity pictures. It has become a fad that sometimes I thought looked really beautiful, and other times I thought just wasn't quite my taste. I love the idea of capturing the memories of this special time in a family's life, but for some reason I still wasn't very comfortable with it. This all changed a few weeks ago when I was given 2 great gifts. 1) At a family cookout with the Kel's side of the family, his aunt gave me 'a gift from womankind' as she put it- a sweater that his Mamaw Ethel (94yrs young!) had worn during all of her pregnancies that has been passed down throughout the generations to the expecting women of the family. Everyone has worn it during each pregnancy. This was such an honor to have it passed to Kellen and myself. Tears, tears, tears. 2) At my work shower, my friend Brooke gave me the wonderful gift of newborn photos...and it just felt right to ask her to do a small maternity session, especially including Mamaw's sweater. I liked the idea of the continuum with the same person taking the 'before' and 'after' shots.

I will admit I was still super nervous about the shoot. Was this really me? Honestly, I'm still not sure. But, Brooke did a great job making us feel natural and keeping us in our comfort zone.  I'll also admit it is still really really weird to see us as a couple with this belly- but at the same time, pretty amazing. I am really happy with how they turned out and know that these will help us remember these memories for years to come. Having the family sweater included makes it all worth it. Brooke was so fun to work with and can't wait for her to do our newborn shots! Here are a few of our favorites:

Sunny Day

Today was such a pretty day outside so I decided to take some pictures of our yard :)

We decided to go minimal on stuff this year, but are still enjoying what we did do!

 I planted these glads 2 years ago and they are finally producing flowers.

To cut (and vase) or not to cut them, that is the question!

 Though much scaled down this year, we did plant a small garden! This year I decided to trellis the cucumbers and so far so good. They are not overtaking the yard and seem to be growing straighter.
