It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Hello everyone! In case you haven't noticed, fall is my favorite time of year. There is something about the winding down of the seasons that is welcome reprieve from the busy-ness of the warmer months. This week I have been working like crazy, but we were still able to enjoy the last of the season despite all the rain.

Fall Date

This last Saturday Kellen and I had a date day. We decided to celebrate our anniversary a little early! We go up early and did one of our favorite things to do together....cook!

What a festive breakfast

After breakfast we packed up and headed south to Parke County for the Covered Bridge Festival.
The weather was a bit cold, but it wasn't too bad, especially when you had hot apple cider in your hand the whole time! We enjoyed walking around and seeing the sites. And let me tell you, the people watching was the biggest entertainment!

Captain was such a good boy! And of course we had to get him a Purdue handkerchief to wear in honor of our Boilermaker win against Ohio State that day!

The drive home was breathtaking.

One our way back, we decided at the last minute to stop by Anderson Orchard. A few of my friends at work had highly recommended it, and Tom Tom told us it was on our way home ;) Perfect! It was so nice to not have an agenda that day and just go with the flow! That made the day so relaxing and that is my favorite!

Finder's Keepers

We had a very eventful day! By the time we got home, we put on sweats and crashed on the couch and watched a movie. I can't think of a more perfect way to spend a Saturday in October! I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!

Hmmmm....

So I usually blog during watching the Biggest Loser on Tuesday nights (and I personally still think that two hours is WAY too long for a show...but for some reason I continue to watch each week)...but this week I am kinda at a loss. Not much new to report really! We have enjoyed nesting lately...and It's been really nice and relaxing.

I got cleared to do brisk walking with 1 minute running intervals this week from the PT...woohoo! I am super excited about this. I have also been working full shifts at work again for two weeks now and so far so good. I am really hoping my hip will behave so I can move on with my life.

Fall is my very favorite season and I am loving every minute of it! It always reminds me of our wedding, perhaps that is another reason I love it. Oct 2nd is our engagement anniversary (4 years ago!) and the 28th is our wedding anniversary (3 years ago), so this last week Kellen and I have had fun reminiscing at what we were doing this time 3 and 4 years ago. One tradition we have always had was going to a pumpkin patch/orchard, and we are hoping to continue that this weekend as we celebrate our anniversary a little early since I have to work our actual wedding date. Kellen said he wanted to plan something so we shall see what I have in store!

2 Children: 8 legs

Lately our 'kiddos' have been cracking us up. They have brought so much joy in our life! Here is what they have been up to.....

The other day I was in the other room and I heard some funny sounds in the dining room. I walked in a this was what I found! They were both looking at the same bird in the tree. They kept looking at each other eagerly and then back at the tree. It was so sweet. They are really starting to get along like brother and sister!

I might not have kids yet, but these two sure can cause some trouble together!


This, again, was something I walked into the other morning. We usually tend to scold Cap when he makes a big mess with his water dish. And Vera has seemed to catch on; the older sis wants to get little brother in trouble...and I caught her in the act! Rotten thing!

A few weeks ago, Kellen installed an invisible fence in our back yard. I have always heard how smart dogs can be, and I never really believed it. Until the other day, right after Kel finished with the fence, I found Captain sitting in the back yard, down by the water. He looked like he was pondering his last days of freedom before we started using the fence. He is such a silly boy!

Kellen did such a good job installing the fence and it has been working so well! For the next couple of weeks, we have to help train Captain with learning his new boundaries. Poor guy! So every time before he goes out, we have to 'lock and load' him with his buzz collar, harness, and leash. He looks so pathetic!

Sunday morning at church, they announced that that night they were having a pet blessing ceremony. Since Kellen and I are such dorks, we were so excited about it! So we took Captain, after deciding it would be a fiasco if we tried to take both Cap and Vera.

Captain was so excited! It was kinda neat because this was the same church where we got married, so having him blessed there was so special. Silly, I know, but it was still special. It was on the same sidewalk where we walked out and had rice thrown at us!
